I-530 lane closures to begin Monday, officials say

— Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department officials say crews will be performing geotechnical sampling on Interstate 30 in Pulaski County next week.

The sampling will require the northbound, outside lane to be closed in the area between Interstate 530 and Highway 167 beginning Monday and continuing through Wednesday. The closure will be in effect between the hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, according to a highway department news release.

Additionally, AHTD Director Scott Bennett issued a reminder to politicians and their supporters that it is unlawful to place unauthorized campaign signs and other objects on highway right of way in Arkansas, according to a release.

Only official directional, informational and/or regulatory highway signs are permitted on state-owned highway property, the release states. All unauthorized signs will be removed by department personnel.

Large "billboard" sign owners will be notified and given an opportunity to remove the sign before the department removes them.

Owners may pick up the signs during normal business hours at the nearest AHTD Area Maintenance Headquarters, the release states.
