Delegation from Mexico to visit ASU, Jonesboro

— A delegation from Mexico is to visit Jonesboro and talks will include exploring whether to put an Arkansas State University sister campus south of the border.

The group visiting for the weekend includes the governor of Queretaro state and government and business officials. The group will meet with ASU Chancellor Tim Hudson and other university officials about the prospect of opening an ASU campus in Mexico.

Queritaro has 2 million people and is located in the highlands two hours north of Mexico City. The U.S. Embassy considers the area to be one of Mexico’s most progressive regions. Numerous multinational corporations have operations there, including Bombardier Aerospace, Samsung Electronics, Colgate-Palmolive and others.

The delegation is to take in the Western Kentucky-Arkansas State football game Saturday evening.
