Sleet possible over next few days

Sleet, mixed with rain, could find its way to parts of the state, most likely northwest and north-central Arkansas, on Tuesday morning, Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, the National Weather Service said Monday afternoon.

Temperatures are expected to be above freezing, so no problems are foreseen at this time, the weather service said.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to increase throughout Tuesday and continue through Thursday before moving out of the state sometime Thursday night.

The weather service said several rounds of rain are expected during that period, with rainfall amounts falling anywhere from 3/4-inch to 2 inches, and even 3 inches in some places. The northeast part of the state is expected to see the least rain.

The weather service said although thunderstorms will occur, severe weather is unlikely, but small hail is possible.
