LR shooting leaves woman in critical condition

A woman is in critical condition after a shooting early Wednesday morning.

Little Rock police said officers responded about 1:17 a.m. to a report of a shooting on Cross Street. Two residents near the crime scene told officers they heard gunshots outside of their home and saw two sport utility vehicles, one red and one black, stopped on their street as well as a woman lying on the ground, according to a police report.

After a brief verbal exchange between the vehicles' occupants, the residents told police, the black SUV drove toward Martin Luther King Drive, and an occupant of the red SUV put the woman inside the vehicle.

Police were later told a female gunshot victim had been dropped off at Arkansas Children's Hospital by an anonymous person driving an older Jeep Cherokee.

The victim, later identified at 26-year-old Kandis Tabron, was then transferred to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where she was last listed in critical condition with a gunshot wound in her chest.
