A small earthquake occurred near Clinton early Thursday morning, the sixth minor tremor to shake the region in recent days.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the latest temblor measured a 2.2-magnitude and was centered about six miles west-southwest of the Van Buren County city.

It comes on the heels of three small quakes Wednesday morning. Those had magnitudes of 1.8, 2.1 and 2.8, which are all below levels at which damage or injuries are expected.

The Clinton area also recorded quakes of 2.1-magnitude on Sunday and Tuesday.
