Interstate 55 work to cause lane closures in Crittenden County

Maintenance work on Interstate 55 will require extensive lane closures in Crittenden County.

Due to a pavement resurfacing project, workers will be rotating the closing of the inside and outside southbound lanes on I-55, a release from the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department states.

The closures will begin at the James Mill exit near Marion and will continue south to Interstate 40.

The work will begin Monday and is expected to take about two months to complete, with the lane closures going into affect nightly from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., the release states. At least one lane will be open at all times.

The project is part of the 2011 Interstate Rehabilitation Program, which has been implemented to improve 455 miles of interstate roadways across Arkansas.
