Severe weather is expected to enter the state in the early hours of Wednesday morning, the National Weather Service said in a Monday news release.

Meteorologist John Robinson said the western region of Arkansas, mainly west of a line from Harrison to Ashdown, is expected to have the biggest threat Wednesday morning, but the system will affect most of the state before it exits early Thursday morning.

Severe weather chances will be greatest east of a line from Mountain Home to Texarkana in the afternoon and evening hours Wednesday, Robinson said.

Damaging winds is the main threat of the system, but Robinson noted that tornadoes and large hail are possible.

Rainfall amounts are expected to range from 1 to 3 inches, but some regions of the state, especially east Arkansas, could see nearly 4 inches.
