FOR THE RECORD: Prep Roundup

Baseball

Lincoln 10, Gravette 7

Both teams got off to quick starts, but Lincoln proved to have the staying power, outlasting Gravette in 4A-1 Conference action Monday night.

Gravette (6-7, 3-2) had already scored three runs in the top of the first when Lincoln called on reliever Tyler Cummings to try and slow the Lions down.

He did just that, tossing four straight scoreless innings to pick up the win. Cummings struck out five, walked two and also went 3-for-4 at the plate.

Lincoln (7-3, 3-2) posted six runs on five hits in the bottom of the first and never again trailed. Dakota Riggin (2-for-2, 2 doubles) highlighted the first-inning outburst, and Dalton Simmons tacked on a two-run home run in the fifth for the Wolves.

Johnson County Westside 6-11, Decatur 1-0

Decatur struggled to find any kind of offense on the road at Johnson County Westside on Monday night, getting swept in in a 2A-4 Conference doubleheader.

The Bulldogs got a quality start from Dakota Pitcher, who struck out eight in a complete-game effort in the first game. Joey Barnes accounted for the only run of the night for Decatur, reaching base on a hit-by-pitch and scoring on an error.

Evan Owens was 2-for-2 with a pair of singles.

SOFTBALL

Rogers Heritage 4, Huntsville 3

Kendra Linn drove in the winning run with a two-out single in the bottom of the seventh inning and lifted the Lady War Eagles to Monday’s nonconference victory at Veterans Park.

Gravette 10, Lincoln 0

Gravette hurler Lindsee LaBrecque had all of her pitches in working order Monday night as she struck out eight in a two-hit shutout on the road.

The Lady Lions offense was kick-started by Meagan Ward, who tallied three hits, including a triple. Jaye Chalk finished 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored.

Gravette (6-8, 4-2) will host Pea Ridge at 5 p.m. today.
