Freeze warning issued for Northwest Arkansas

A freeze warning is in place in Northwest Arkansas as a cold front brings unseasonably low temperatures to the state.

The National Weather Service has issued the warning until 10 a.m. Thursday and again from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday. Forecasters say temperatures will be at or below freezing as cold air makes it way through the region.

The warning is in effect for Benton, Carroll, Crawford, Franklin, Madison, Sebastian and Washington counties.

The cold front followed a severe storm system that moved through the state Wednesday. Forecasters say the area will see lows in the 30s on Thursday and Friday before returning to warmer weather for the weekend.
