The 5 Browns Concert

CONWAY — The 5 Browns, a classical piano musical group , will give a concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall at the University of Central Arkansas. The concert is part of the UCA Public Appearances’ Night Out Series. The 5 Browns — siblings Ryan, Melody, Gregory, Deondra and Desirae Brown — attended Juilliard School in New York, with all five being enrolled at the same time for one semester. Used Book Sale

MORRILTON — The Friends of the Conway County Library of Morrilton will host its biennial book sale Tuesday through April 20 in the Southern Christian Home Fullerton Activity Center on Arkansas 95. Books can be dropped off from 1-5 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at the activity center. The sale will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday; from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday; from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. April 18 and 19; and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 20. The books will be sold for 50 cents a pound each day, and on April 20, books will be $1 a bag. There will be a daily limit. No magazines, encyclopedias or textbooks will be accepted. Band Needed

RUSSELLVILLE — Arkansas Center for Music Education is seeking volunteer instrumentalists to assist with the community band playing for the Russellville Adult Education Center’s graduation ceremony set for 2 p.m. April 21 at the Center for the Arts located at Russellville High School. Players should be at least junior high level and up. The band will play two pieces — “Pomp & Circumstance” for the processional and “With Valor and Honor” for the recessional. There will only be two rehearsal opportunities. The first will be at 7 p.m. Thursday and the second will be at 1:15 p.m. the day of the ceremony. Music is available to picked up by anyone interested in participating in this band. Students in service clubs or organizations can receive up to two hours of service credit. Play Rescheduled

MORRILTON — The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton Theatre Department’s spring production, Kindertransport, has been rescheduled for next week. The cast will hold four performances over three days. This drama will be presented at 7:30 p.m. April 19; at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., April 20; and at 2:30 p.m. April 21 at the Fine Arts Auditorium at UACCM. General admission tickets are $10 and will be available at the door only on the days of performances. Mountain Man Rendezvous

The Slobber Knocker

PERRYVILLE — The third annual running of The Slobber Knocker will be April 20 in Perryville. This endurance mountain-bike race offers distances of 75 and 45 miles, with the former being part of the Arkansas Mountain Bike Marathon series and the latter open to all bikers. Scholarship Opportunity

MAUMELLE — The Maumelle Newcomers Club is offering a $1,000 scholarship. All residents of Maumelle are eligible to apply, as well as immediate family members of Newcomers Club members. Applicants must have at least a 2.5 cumulative grade-point average and cannot be the recipient of a full scholarship. The scholarship is available to those attending a four-year or two-year institution or an accredited technical college. Graduate and part-time students are also eligible. Cherokee Bingo Fundraiser

CONWAY — Cherokee Bingo will be held every Tuesday and Thursday at Bob’s Grill in downtown Conway. Doors will open at 4 p.m. for dinner, with bingo mini packs starting at 6:15 p.m. and main packs starting at 6:45 p.m. Proceeds from the event will go to the University of Central Arkansas Athletic Scholarship Fund.

Senior Wellness Center Volunteers

MAUMELLE — The Maumelle Senior Wellness Center, 550 Edgewood, is a day activity center for senior citizens. The center needs volunteer drivers to take members to medical appointments, as well as van shuttle drivers to transport members to and from the senior center. Choir Spring Concert

Journalist, Author Lecture

CONWAY — The Crain-Mailing Center of Jewish Culture at Hendrix College will host journalist and author Dan Raviv at 7 p.m. April 25 in Worsham Student Performance Hall, Student Life and Technology Center. Aquatic Conservation Camp

RUSSELLVILLE — Lake Dardanelle State Park will offer an Aquatic Conservation Experience Camp on April 26 and 27. This two-day, one-night camp for children ages 10-13 will teach them about the lake and its inhabitants through a variety of activities, including kayaking. Fashion Show

RUSSELLVILLE — A spring mother-daughter fashion show and tea will be held at 2 p.m. April 28 at First United Methodist Church Family Hall, 304 S. Commerce. Intergenerational models (grandmothers, mothers and children) will wear spring and summer fashions. A high tea will be served to guests. Finger sandwiches, savory snacks, scones, etc. will be served.
