Oil-spill compensation plan unveiled

Exxon Mobil Corp. has agreed to purchase homes, cover closing and cleaning costs, and compensate for diminished property value in an evacuated Mayflower subdivision where a pipeline ruptured March 29, spilling thousands of barrels of heavy crude oil into yards and ditches, according to a compensation plan the company released Tuesday.
