A woman was killed and three people — including two children — were hurt Sunday when a sport utility vehicle overturned multiple times Sunday in Dover, police said.
It happened shortly after 5 p.m. as a Mitsubishi Montero driven by 41-year-old Dover resident Jennifer D. Cates was heading south on Rod Taylor Road about a mile-and-a-half north of Center Valley Road.
Arkansas State Police say the Montero swerved, hit a mailbox and then overcorrected, overturning several times. A passenger identified as 39-year-old Dover resident Kristina Aimee Davis was ejected. She died at the scene.
Cates, a 7-year-old passenger and a 4-year-old passenger were taken to St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville with unspecified injuries, according to a preliminary report.
Davis is the 137th person to die in a traffic accident on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
