Friend giving ride leads to beating, robbery

A man who gave four others a ride in his car Monday evening in Little Rock ended up beaten and robbed.

The assault occurred shortly after 6 p.m. near the 2400 block of Hoffman Road, according to a report from the Little Rock Police Department. Desmond Turner, 25, of Conway told police his friend, identified in the report as "DJ", called and asked for a ride to his brother's house in Little Rock.

When Turner arrived, he said, DJ asked whether three unknown black males could ride along with them as well, and Turner agreed. As Turner pulled onto Hoffman Road, DJ revealed a black .40-caliber, semiautomatic handgun, hit Turner in the face with it and demanded money, the report states.

Turner said he exited the car and was beaten by the other three passengers, who then took his shoes, cell phone, wallet and at least $750 in cash, according to the report.

The four assailants then drove off in Turner's white Nissan Altima, which was last seen westbound on Hoffman Road towards Ballinger Road. While Turner's condition is unclear, the report indicates that he refused medical attention.

The suspect identified as DJ was described as a 6-foot-1 black male wearing a white T-shirt, bluejeans and a red hat. The suspects are being sought on charges of aggravated robbery, as well as felony and misdemeanor theft of property.

Little Rock Police Department spokesman Sgt. Cassandra Davis said no arrests have been made in the case.
