A Little Rock liquor store owner followed a shoplifter from the business and retrieved the stolen merchandise, but the thief then tried to run him down with a vehicle, authorities said.
The accused shoplifter, identified by police as 28-year-old Courtney Briggs, was arrested on a charge of aggravated robbery.
Briggs on Tuesday took liquor from Copping's Arkansas Liquor at 1319 Rebsamen Park Road and then drove to a nearby business to "get something to eat," according to a Little Rock Police Department report.
The liquor store owner called police and drove to the nearby business, where he confronted Briggs, police said.
When questioned, Briggs handed over the stolen liquor but threatened to shoot the store owner if he didn't get out of the way, the report said. Briggs then tried to strike the man with his vehicle, police said.
Briggs was arrested a short time later at the scene. He remained in the Pulaski County jail Wednesday morning with bail not yet set.
