Origami sculptures by 18-year-old Akeen McDaniel, a Little Rock Central High School graduate who will be transferring to the University of Tampa in Tampa, Fla., this fall after a year at Pulaski Technical College, goes on display during the monthly Argenta Art Walk, 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Thea Foundation, 401 Main St., North Little Rock. The sculptures will be up alongside the works of Connecticut photo realist painter Eric Forstmann through Aug. 30. Admission to the reception and the gallery are free. The Clinton Presidential Center, 1200 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock, will host a back-to-school celebration, “Head of the Class Bash,” 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. The first 1,500 students to enter the center will receive free school supply-stuffed backpacks provided by 3M. Students can also get free haircuts from All Pro Styles and free immunizations from the Arkansas Department of Health. And there will be face-painting, rock-climbing and a bounce house. Casting director and author Helen McCready will give an acting/audition workshop, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 24 in Salon A of the Doubletree Hotel, 424 W. Markham St., Little Rock. McCready has cast actors for movies (most recently Love in the Big City with Sharon Stone and Lighthouse with Danny Glover) and television (Lifetime’s The Jodi Arias Story). The workshop will offer “the fundamentals essential to develop the skills necessary to become a working actor ….
