The driver killed in a fatal shooting in a busy intersection Wednesday night has been identified as a North Little Rock woman.
Samantha Cass, 31, was shot shortly after 7 p.m. while driving at John F. Kennedy and McCain boulevards, police said.
Authorities on Thursday also confirmed that Cass was the mother of an infant who was in the backseat of the vehicle but was uninjured. The infant was taken to Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock as a precaution and then released to the child's father, police said.
The motive for the shooting wasn't known, and police said they had few leads beyond a possible description of the vehicle the shooter fired from: a four-door black or maroon Ford pickup with an orange toolbox in the truck bed.
North Little Rock Police Sgt. Brian Dedrick said anyone with information should call the agency tip line at (501) 680-8439. He said in an email that some calls have already been received.
