Gov. Mike Beebe declared six counties as disaster areas Friday after last week's floods in north Arkansas, the governor's office said in a news release.
Beebe's office said those counties include Benton, Boone, Carroll, Madison, Marion and Newton.
Starting Monday, teams comprised of federal, state and local officials will begin to assess whether Arkansas may qualify for federal disaster assistance, the release states.
