There will be no winner of the World Cheese Dip Championship in 2013, because the event won't be happening.
Officials with the championship made the announcement Aug. 10 on the event's official Facebook page.
"Cheese Dip Aficionados and Harmony Health Clinic Supporters: The World Cheese Dip Competition is taking a leap year – there will be no WCDC in 2013," they said in the post.
Cheese dip enthusiasts shouldn't be totally discouraged, however. The message also states that the event should return next year.
"We are reorganizing and preparing for a bigger and better than ever World Cheese Dip Competition in 2014. Your comments and suggestions are important to us as we plan for the 2014 event," the statement continued.
The World Cheese Dip Championship began in Little Rock in 2010 and has been held at Dickey-Stephens Park and War Memorial Stadium. It features cheese dips from across the nation and awards winners in several different categories of dip and salsas.
