Gov. Mike Beebe says on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, that former congressman Mike Ross is the best candidate for Arkansas governor.

Gov. Mike Beebe endorsed former congressman Mike Ross on Saturday as the best man for Arkansas's highest elected office.

Ross, a former U.S. representative for Arkansas’ 4th Congressional District, is running as the sole democrat for the governor's race in 2014.

His opponents are former U.S. Rep. Asa Hutchinson, Little Rock businessman Curtis Coleman and state Rep. Debra Hobbs, who all are vying for the Republican nomination.

On the Capitol's steps in front of Ross's supporters, Beebe highlighted Ross's commitment to Arkansas residents, education, jobs and bipartisanship.

"If we're going to prioritize education and economic development," he said. "If we're going to understand our obligation to take care of those less fortunate than ourselves, if we're going to understand that we're going to do this together across party lines, then [Ross] is the man that knows how to get that done."

Beebe cannot run for re-election, because he is term-limited.

We are not obligated to take care of those less fortunate than ourselves.

And therein lies the problem..!!! I wouldn't think that it had to be an "obligation".. Guess that is why we have taxes (which ARE are an obligation) for people like you..!!!

Taxes are not an "obligation", they are the law.

Au contraire..!!!!

"obligation -
.
A generic term for any type of legal duty or liability.
.
In its original sense, the term obligation was very technical in nature and applied to the responsibility to pay money owed on certain written documents that were executed under seal. Currently obligation is used in reference to anything that an individual is required to do because of a promise, vow, oath, contract, or law. It refers to a legal or moral duty that an individual can be forced to perform or penalized for neglecting to perform."

Good to see Aimee embracing two center-right conservative democrats. I doubt that Beebe really cares, but it is his obligation as outgoing governor to endorse Ross. Beebe will probably stump for Ross about as much as he did for Obama, remember his glowing endorsement before the last election of, I will probably vote for him.

Thank you aimee for proving my point that, "We are not obligated to take care of those less fortunate than ourselves."
