Stephanie Lee Shepherd became the bride of Bradley Alan Prater at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug.
10, at Wildwood Park. The Rev. David S. King officiated.
Parents of the bride are Ruth and Stephen Shepherd, 2720 Charter Oak Drive. Her grandparents are Margaret and the late Howard Shepherd of Little Rock and the late Bera and Paul Darrow of Oklahoma City.
Susan and Stephen Prater of Sherwood are the parents of the groom. He is the grandson of Reubin and the late Berniece Prater and Jacqueline and the late Roy Peters, all of Oklahoma City.
Columns decorated with lilies, roses and orchids provided a backdrop for the ceremony. Music by violinist Charles Friedman included “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” and “Simple Gifts.”
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a sleeveless gown of cafe-colored charmeuse-satin with an ivory overlay of appliqued laceembellished with embroidery and crystals. She carried a bouquet of Asiatic lilies, garden roses, matthiola and freesia in shades of red and orange.
Guests were seated by Paul D. Shepherd of Fayetteville, brother of the bride; and Stephen Prater Jr. of West Fork and David Prater of Baltimore, brothers of the groom.
A reception at the park followed the ceremony. Plum-colored trumpet vases on the buffet tables held arrangements of garden roses, orchids and dahlias. Guest tables were centered with purple vases of gerbera daisies, dianthus, lilies and orchids.
Assisting were Dana Austin of Springfield, Ill.; Kathie King and Hannah Vogler, both of Little Rock; Sonja Schwake and Nola Semczyszyn, both of Lancaster, Pa.; and Carrie Shanafeltof Grinnell, Iowa.
The bride graduated from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn., with a bachelor’s degree in English. She received a master’s in geoscience and a doctorate in environmental dynamics from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. She is an assistant professor of geoscience at Bloomsburg University in Bloomsburg, Pa.
The groom graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Arkansas. He is an architect.
The couple will live in Bloomsburg and plan a wedding trip to southern Europe for a later date.
