124 Swink Lane

Authorities in White County are investigating the shooting death of a 20-year-old man early Wednesday morning in the Romance area.

It happened about 2:30 a.m. at 124 Swink Lane, the White County sheriff's office said in a statement.

Deputies found the victim, identified as Fletcher Rouse, dead in the front yard. He had suffered an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

No information on the motive or the suspected shooter has been released, though police said they are looking for a person of interest as a "potential witness."

"Detectives are still investigating the incident to make a determination of the cause of the death and whether or not alcohol might have been a contributing factor," White County sheriff's office Chief Deputy Phillip E. Miller said in a statement.

Rouse's body was sent to the state Crime Laboratory for an autopsy.

Cause of death must have been cyanide poisoning that caused a hole in his head resembling a gunshot wound
