Man asks for water, robs woman of life savings at gunpoint

A man knocked on the door of a Little Rock residence Tuesday and asked for water only to burst in and rob the people inside, firing a gun into the air and taking cash and tires, police said.

It happened about 12:30 p.m. at a home in the 4300 block of Boyd Street.

One victim, a 32-year-old resident, told investigators the man initially came to the door asking for water because his pickup was running hot. When she brought him the water, he pulled out a handgun and demanded money, according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

The woman was able to quickly close and lock the front door, but the man immediately kicked it in, entered and fired multiple times into the ceiling, police said.

Two other men from the same vehicle the first man had arrived in then joined him in the residence, where they confronted a 43-year-old resident in the living room at gunpoint, the report said.

"She stated she went to the bedroom and gave him 'all her life's savings,'" police wrote.

The report says the men made off with $3,000 in cash as well as four tires. No one was injured.

The robber who first knocked on the door is described only as a white man who stood 5 feet tall, weighed about 135 pounds, had reddish, medium-length hair, a slim build and was clean-shaven.

One of the other two robbers was described as a black man who stood 5 foot 8, weighed 170 pounds, had a bandanna on his head and wore bluejeans.

No description of the third man was available.

The robbers arrived and left in a white Toyota Tundra.

No arrests have been made.
