Music Therapy Program

BRYANT — The Saline County Library will present a music-therapy and relaxation program and performance at 6 p.m. at the Mabel Boswell Memorial Library. The program will feature local musician Linda Brockinton and Dr. Terry Harville of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Country Time Variety Show

ARKADELPHIA — The Central Arkansas Development Council Arkadelphia Senior Activity Center will host a Country Time Variety Show at 6 p.m. at 1305 N. 10th St. The public is invited. Recycling Event

HOT SPRINGS — The Southwest Central Regional Solid Waste Management District will sponsor its first E-Waste Recycling Event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 30 and 31 at the Hot Springs Convention Center, the Church Street Entrance, Halls A-D. End of Summer Blowout

HOT SPRINGS — Lake Catherine State Park will hold an End of Summer Blowout, a free event Friday through Monday that will feature lake and kayak tours, hikes, crafts and educational programs as park staff members cease their daily interpretive programming. The nature cabin will close for the year, with its animal inhabitants being the subjects of a release party. Two-Steppers’ Dance Season

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — The Hot Springs Village Two-Steppers’ dance season starts at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Coronado Community Center’s ballroom. A DJ spins music, and the bar is open in a smoke-free atmosphere. The dance costs $6 per person, or dancers can join the group for $35 per year. Casual dress is acceptable. BENTON — The Ralph Bunche Neighborhood Association will host a movie night at 7:30 at the Ralph Bunche Community Center, 1600 Dixie St. The public is invited to this free event. Quilted Treasures Exhibit

ARKADELPHIA — The Arkadelphia Arts Center will exhibit professionally crafted quilts by the Arkadelphia Quilt Guild from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays through Sept. 7 at 625 Main St. This is a free exhibit.

September Art Exhibit

HOT SPRINGS — Garvan Woodland Gardens’ September art exhibit will be Brush Strokes, works from an art club of that name headquartered in Hot Springs Village. The exhibit, slated for 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily during September, will feature 40 of the club’s artists with works that include watercolors, oils, pastels and mixed media. Some of the paintings depict scenes from Garvan Woodland Gardens. Admission will be $10 for adults and $5 for children 6-12. Children 5 and younger will be admitted free. Ageless Bikers Club Rides

Health Walks in the Gardens

HOT SPRINGS — Guided health walks at Garvan Woodland Gardens take place twice a week: a three-mile walk at 9 a.m. Mondays, and a one-mile walk at 9 a.m. Tuesdays. Walkers meet at the Welcome Center. Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy walking shoes. No reservations are needed. The guided walks are free to members, and nonmembers pay regular gardens admission.

Kiwanis Golf Tournament

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — The Kiwanis Club of Hot Springs Village will sponsor the Million-Dollar Shot Golf Tournament, starting at 8 a.m. Sept. 11 at the Magellan Golf Course. The tournament is a traditional four-ball format, with an entry fee of $300 per team, or $75 per player. At the end of play, one of the 36 teams will be chosen by random drawing to shoot for the million-dollar prize. The golfer taking the shot will be chosen by his or her teammates. In addition to one team having a chance at the million-dollar jackpot ($250,000 per player), the entry fee also covers green fees, a cart, practice balls and a catered lunch. Family History Workshop

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — The Village Genealogical Society and the Arkansas Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution will sponsor a family-history workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Coronado Community Center. The featured speaker will be Debbie Parker Wayne, a certified genealogist, certified genealogical lecturer, researcher and author. The workshop is geared toward genealogists who are just beginning to consider DNA evidence and will provide some intermediate-level information for those familiar with genetic genealogy. Cassatt String Quartet Concert

HOT SPRINGS — The Hot Springs Music Festival will present a concert by the Cassatt String Quartet at 7 p.m. Oct. 1 in Garvan Woodland Gardens’ Anthony Chapel. The program includes Maurice Ravel’s String Quartet in F Major and Antonin Dvorak’s American String Quartet No. 12 in F Major, Op. 96. 2013 Soiree Internationale

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — The Hot Springs Village Symphony Guild will present its 2013 Soiree Internationale at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Coronado Community Center. Proceeds from the event will provide local school music departments with equipment and offer students enrichment opportunities, as well as scholarships for area college students. The evening will include a Chateaubriand dinner, entertainment by Ricky Tripp, and silent and live auctions. Tickets are $35 per person. Night to Be Great

BENTON — The Boys & Girls Club of Saline County will host the Night to Be Great fundraiser at 6 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Benton Event Center.
