FORREST CITY — An Arkansas man who pleaded guilty to manslaughter is due in court Friday for a sentencing after skipping out on his scheduled sentencing last week.
Circuit Judge L.T. Simes had approved a 10-day release for Anthony Antwan Millbrooks at the request of defense attorneys. An arrest warrant was issued after Millbrooks didn't show up for his scheduled sentencing Aug. 22.
Authorities say Millbrooks surrendered to authorities in Jonesboro on Wednesday. He's now being held in the St. Francis County jail.
Prosecutors were recommending a 22-year prison sentence for Millbrooks, who pleaded guilty in the 2010 shooting death of Roosevelt Willis. But deputy prosecutor Chris Morledge tells the Times-Herald that Millbrooks could face a longer sentence after he was charged with failure to appear and escape.
