Preliminary figures released Friday by the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville show the university has already met its 2021 enrollment goal, university officials said in a statement.
Early figures show that a record 25,365 students have enrolled at the university, 21,083 of them undergraduate, Chancellor G. David Gearhart said. Enrollment has increased by 32 percent, or more than 6,000 students, since 2008, according to a statement by the university.
Provost Sharon Gruber said the university has spent $450 million in new construction since 2011 to expand the campus and are adding faculty members to accommodate growth.
The university is waiting on the "11th-day snapshot," which will be submitted to the state Department of Higher Education by mid-October, to get the official enrollment figures.
