Nearly $20,000 in cash, phones taken from Little Rock AT&T store

Little Rock police are searching for two men who are believed to have broken into a local AT&T store Friday night and stolen a large amount of cell phones and cash.

A Little Rock Police Department report states the two men — both of whom are described as black, standing 5 foot 5 and weighing 140 pounds — tried to enter the store at 2000 S. University Ave. as employees were closing it around 6:40 p.m. Employees told the men they were closing and unable to let them in, according to the report.

On Saturday morning, employees noticed one of the glass doors was broken — though no object was found at the scene that could’ve been used to break the glass — and the store’s safe was open, the report states.

The men were said to have taken 33 phones, valued at $17,164, and $2,492.17 in cash from the store, according to the report.

The employees who worked Friday night told police that the two men watched them as they closed the store, observing where the safe and key were located.

Authorities lifted prints and took surveillance video from the scene for evidence. The investigation is ongoing.
