Driver killed when truck veers off I-40

A driver from Florida was killed Monday when his truck veered off Interstate 40 in Franklin County, authorities said.

It happened about 2:15 p.m. on eastbound I-40 about two miles east of Ozark, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

Authorities say 45-year-old Ronald Scott Pentifallo was driving a 2007 International that went off the right side of the highway and came to a stop in a ditch.

Pentifallo, of Orange City, Fla., died from unspecified injuries.

The report noted it wasn't clear what caused the truck to leave the interstate. Conditions were described as clear and dry.

The death was the 441st fatality in a traffic accident in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
