Drug-raid shooting suspect indicted on 7 counts

A man accused of shooting a Jacksonville SWAT officer during a drug raid at his home outside Cabot has been indicted on methamphetamine and weapons charges.

Mark Lyle Dodson, 53, is accused of firing at Jacksonville police officers as they helped Drug Enforcement Administration special agents serve a search warrant Nov. 22 at 2327 Backbone Road. He was indicted Tuesday with one count of conspiring to distribute five grams or more of methamphetamine; three counts of assault with a deadly weapon; and three counts of possession of a firearm in relation to a crime of violence, U.S. Attorney Chris Thyer said in a statement.

Mary Olszak, 52, was charged with one count of conspiring to distribute five grams or more of methamphetamine and two counts of distributing methamphetamine, according to the statement.

If convicted on all counts, Dodson faces a maximum of life imprisonment and Olszak faces a maximum of 60 years, Thyer said.
