Man beaten with bat, robbed in Little Rock

A 31-year-old Little Rock man told police he was beaten with a bat and robbed of cash by a man who approached him as he walked along Base Line Road.

It happened about 1 a.m. Tuesday as the victim was walking on Base Line near Stanton Road, according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

The victim said the robber first asked whether he had any money and then struck him in the knees with a baseball bat when he said he didn't.

The victim fell to the ground and handed over $10, but the robber continued to strike him and demanded more, according to the report.

Police said the victim reported handing over $50 he had hidden in his shoes. The robber reportedly struck him again in the neck and head before fleeing with the stolen money.

The victim went to UAMS Medical Center for treatment of injuries suffered in the attack. It wasn't clear how serious they were.

The report notes that hospital staff told investigators that Brown gave "multiple other accounts" of the assault and robbery with "variations in his statements."

The robber is described as a Hispanic man who stood 5-foot-10, weighed about 165 pounds and was between 25 and 30 years old. He wore a blue beanie, a brown long-sleeved shirt and brown pants.

No arrests have been made.
