Forecasters issue ice storm warning for Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY — All counties in Oklahoma are under storm warnings or advisories as a powerful storm system churns its way through the state.

An ice storm warning is in place until 6 p.m. Friday in the southeastern and south-central parts of the state, where up to three-quarters of an inch of ice is possible.

In other parts of the state, a half-foot of snow is possible with the storm system. A winter storm warning is in effect for the central and northeastern parts of the state, including Oklahoma City and Tulsa.

Light snow and sleet are predicted in northwest Oklahoma.

Forecasters say the significant icing will make travel treacherous and power failures are expected.
