Parrotheads will have to miss their "Cheeseburger in Paradise" on Saturday as the weekend's winter storms have forced the cancellation of singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett's "Songs from St. Somewhere" concert at Verizon Arena, officials announced Friday in a statement.
"We regret we have had to cancel the concert, but our patrons' safety is always first and foremost," arena general manager Michael Marion said.
After consulting with the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department, local meteorologists and various weather reports, Marion said, arena officials believe that the weather conditions are "simply prohibitive of us to host Jimmy Buffett tomorrow night."
The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported Friday that downtown hotels had been booked full because of the winter storms and by Buffett fans looking to attend the concert.
Tickets are refundable where they were purchased, while tickets bought through Ticketmaster by phone or online will be automatically refunded, according to the news release.
