Where I live: I live in the Aberdeen neighborhood of west Little Rock with my husband, Mike, and our children, Tripp, 7, and Aubrey, 4. We also have a 1-year-old silver Lab named Ash.
Occupation: I am the clinical director for Value Options Arkansas.
My favorite space is: Our great room.
Why? My husband and I were sold on this house when we walked in and saw this open space. We wanted a large, open living area where a lot of people could gather. We have neighborhood families over frequently, and kids are in and out all the time. We entertain quite a bit for friends and our extra large extended family. And we can have friends over and shuffle the kids to the upstairs playroom. We love curling up on the sofa on movie night with a fire in the fireplace and watching a movie with our kids. I also like the fact that I can be downstairs in the “grown-up” space, but I can still hear what the children are doing upstairs.
If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: Knock down the wall between the great room and the kitchen, opening up the space even more. I don’t cook but I would love having a kitchen bar area for setting out appetizers and cocktails.
