LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas highway officials urged residents to remain off most of the state's highways after an ice storm.
Frigid temperatures were still causing problems Saturday, with some bridges and overpasses either slick or blocked by jackknifed tractor-trailer rigs.
State highway department spokesman Randy Ort said crews would continue to treat roads, but that it was best for people to just stay put if at all possible.
Some parts of Arkansas saw more than a half-foot of snow and sleet since Thursday. With temperatures remaining below freezing in nearly all of the state, roads will be slow to thaw.
Another batch of winter precipitation is expected Saturday night and Sunday. A winter weather advisory has been posted for eastern Arkansas.
