Fifth suspect in string of robberies turns himself in

A fifth man accused in a string of recent robberies in the Pine Bluff area has turned himself in to authorities, police say.

Keyvis McCoy, 23, surrendered to Pine Bluff police on Monday, according to a news release from the department. Pine Bluff Police Department spokesman Robert Wagner said that McCoy is the fifth suspect to be arrested in the robbery spree.

Authorities captured three of the men — Jerome Pridgeon, 20; Jeffery Freeman, 20; and Samuel Freeman, 23 — after officers observed them rob a Family Dollar, 3000 W. 28th Street, in Pine Bluff on Friday, according to an earlier release from the department. A Pine Bluff police officer shot Samuel Freeman after he pointed a weapon at officers at the scene, police say.

A fourth suspect, Robert Jordan, 22, was arrested as an accomplice a short time later, according to police.

Wagner said the specific robbery or robberies in which McCoy is accused of participating is unclear.

McCoy was arrested without incident and booked about 2 p.m. into in the Jefferson County jail in lieu of a $680 bond, the release states. He has been charged with aggravated robbery and failure to appear, according to the jail’s inmate roster.
