BURNS PARK GREEN TRAIL

Location: Trailhead parking is on Arlene Laman Drive just southwest of Interstate 40. Take Exit 150 north, turn left on Funland Drive, go past batting cages and recross I-40 to parking area on the left. Follow the light green blazes.

Length: The single-track, multi-use loop is just over 5 miles long.

Main attractions: This popular trail treks along ridges, down ravines, along creeks and up to a magnificent vista of the Arkansas River, Big Rock and even the distant Capitol building.

Hazards: Watch for bikers, a couple of steep cliffs and cars (where the trail twice crosses the road).

Dog, bike, tyke friendly? Mountain bikes and dogs (even horses) will love it; too long for smaller fry.

Rating (out of five):Know a good trail for a hike?
