NLR man held in fatal stabbing

A North Little Rock man has been arrested in a fatal stabbing Monday night.

Johnny Lee Davis, 56, is being held in the Pulaski County jail on a charge of first-degree murder.

North Little Rock police say the victim, 40-year-old Jada Young, was found shortly after 10 p.m. in a yard at 2900 E. Second St. suffering from multiple stab wounds.

She was taken to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock, where she died.

Davis was not at the scene, but he was later found at 3000 E. Lincoln Ave. with blood on his clothing, police said.

A police spokesman said information on the motive wasn't immediately available.

Davis made a brief appearance by video Tuesday morning before North Little Rock District Judge Jim Hamilton.

Davis, who spoke only briefly during the hearing, entered a preliminary innocent plea. Hamilton ordered him held without bail, though a public defender representing Davis said a bond hearing may be sought later to have one set.
