Man sentenced to 11 years for bank robbery

EL DORADO — A California man convicted of charges related to a south Arkansas bank robbery has been sentenced to 11 years in federal prison.

Prosecutors said Wednesday that 22-year-old Eric Johnson of Apple Valley, Calif., will also have to pay more than $53,000 in restitution.

Johnson and an accomplice were accused of robbing a First Financial Bank in El Dorado on Dec. 30, 2011. The next day, Johnson flew from Little Rock to Las Vegas, where he was arrested on Jan. 31, 2012.

In March, Johnson pleaded guilty to one count of aiding and abetting in armed robbery and one count of carrying a firearm during a crime of violence.

U.S. Attorney Connor Eldridge says three other people were arrested in connection with the robbery.
