Memphis police seek aggravated-assault leads

Memphis police on Friday said they are still seeking leads in the October beating attack of a 78-year-old man.

Officers were called about 8 a.m. Oct. 27 to a “man-down” report at 1141 S. Barksdale St. and found the man lying in Glenview Park unconscious.

He couldn't speak and had injuries “consistent with an assault,” the Memphis Police Department said in a statement. His property was lying on the ground several feet away, police said.

The victim was taken to the Regional Medical Center, where his condition, once critical, has improved, but he remains hospitalized, police said.

Police say they have no description of the attacker and investigators need help identifying the assailant. Those with information are asked to call CrimeStoppers at (901) 528-2274.
