No injuries reported in Salem building collapse

SALEM — Authorities say a north Arkansas civic center has collapsed because of the heavy weight of ice and snow.

The Fulton County sheriff's office said the civic center in Salem collapsed Thursday. The area received heavy snow in last week's wintry weather and authorities say the weight of the wintry precipitation caused the building to collapse.

Jonesboro television station KAIT reported that no one was in the building at the time, and no injuries were reported.

The National Weather Service says light snow is possible in the area Friday and Saturday, with temperatures rising early next week.
