No injuries reported in Tulsa train derailment

TULSA — No injuries were reported after a freight train derailed in Tulsa, sending about 20 railcars off the track.

Authorities said the Burlington Northern Santa Fe train derailed early Friday in north Tulsa. Tulsa Fire Department spokesman Stan May said none of the cars contained hazardous materials. He said the train was hauling vehicles, food products and other items.

Officials said a hazardous materials team is cleaning up a diesel spill caused by the derailment. Burlington Northern said the fuel leak does not pose a threat to the community.

The derailment is expected to cause delays in the morning commute because several railroad crossings are closed.
