Longtime University of Central Arkansas football coach Clint Conque is leaving to become head coach at Stephen F. Austin.
Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reporter Jeremy Muck says multiple sources have confirmed Conque's departure.
In 14 years at UCA, Conque became the program's winningest coach with a record of 105-59. The Bears finished 7-5 in 2013, marking the eighth season in the last decade in which the team has had at least seven wins.
Central Arkansas' director of athletics, Brad Teague, says Conque continued the university's longstanding championship tradition, leading it into the Division I era with great success. Teague says Central Arkansas has a very strong athletics program, and football has been a cornerstone of that strength for many decades.
He says the school will immediately begin focusing on the search for our next head coach.
