Memphis man charged in crash that killed teen

Authorities have charged a man with driving under the influence after a two-vehicle accident in Memphis left a 13-year-old boy dead and three other people hurt.

Deputies were called after 1 a.m. Sunday to the accident on Hacks Cross Road north of Meadow Vale Drive in the Hickory Hill community, the Shelby County sheriff's office said in a statement.

A Dodge Durango driven by Quincy Johnson, 27, was headed north on Hacks Cross road when, Johnson told authorities, he blacked out and crossed the centerline, hitting a Ford Tempo that contained a man, a woman, a 13-year-old boy and an 18-month-old, the sheriff's office said.

The teenager, Hezekiah Keyon Moss, who suffered head trauma in the accident, was airlifted to the Med in critical condition and later died of his injuries, authorities said. The others in the car with him suffered non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

Johnson, who was uninjured in the accident, had a blood-alcohol content of 0.83 at the scene, authorities said. He has been charged with DUI, reckless driving and failure to exercise due care, the sheriff's office said.

Johnson has posted bond, which had been set at $50,000, and is due in court Thursday.
