A 19-year-old has been arrested in the fatal shooting of a man during a robbery attempt at an ATM on Friday night in Jacksonville, authorities said.

Lerome Deshawn Kelley is accused of killing 23-year-old Marcus Israel during an attempted holdup at an ATM in the 600 block of West Main Street about 8:30 p.m.

Israel was shot multiple times in his car, which then crashed into a nearby building, police said. He was taken to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock, where he died Saturday morning.

The shooter wasn't at the scene when police arrived, but authorities released a detailed description. Kelley was arrested late Sunday night, though it wasn't clear how police tied him to the crime.

Pulaski County jail records show Kelley was booked into that facility shortly after 3:30 a.m. Monday. He is being held without bail pending an initial court appearance.

In addition to a charge of capital murder and aggravated robbery in the Friday fatal shooting, Kelley is also charged with armed robberies Nov. 28 and Nov. 30 at an ATM at 101 Gregory Place and a robbery at gunpoint earlier Friday night of a Sonic employee outside the restaurant at 1808 W. Main St.

Kelley was described by police as "basically homeless" while staying with multiple people around Jacksonville.
