Eleven weeks after a Maryland ticket holder won the $189 million Mega Millions Lottery jackpot, the prize has grown to a near-record $636 million as of Tuesday afternoon.

The total is currently the second-highest in history, with a $656 million payout going to three winners in Kansas, Illinois and Maryland on March 30, 2012.

The drawing is scheduled for Tuesday night.

If one person wins the prize, he or she may receive a one-time lump sum of $231 million in cash after taxes or nearly $432.5 million after 30 payments with the annuity option.
