Man found dead after fire at Texarkana home

TEXARKANA — Authorities in Texarkana say a man was found dead after a house fire.

Fire Marshal Stephen Johnson said David Lee Byrd, 49, was found dead Wednesday morning inside the house. He said investigators think Byrd died of smoke inhalation.

The fire broke out Tuesday night at a home on Rose Street.

Johnson said the cause of the fire is under investigation but it appears to be accidental.

The Texarkana Gazette reported that another occupant of the home escaped without injury.
