State police are investigating a shooting that occurred Thursday morning in Austin, the agency said in a statement.
Deputies received a report shortly before 9 a.m. about a shooting at 31 Watercrest North, state police said.
When police arrived at the scene, Charlie Bryant was found outside the home with one gunshot wound in his stomach and was taken by ambulance to a hospital, according to state police.
Sharae Bryant was found dead with a gunshot wound and her body has been taken to the state crime laboratory, authorities said.
State police spokesman Bill Sadler told Arkansas Online that the man was a former reserve deputy with the Lonoke County Sheriff's Office. He said more information about the shooting will be released once investigators have collected "sufficient information."
