Two killed, one critically hurt in Memphis shooting

Memphis police are investigating after two people were killed and one critically injured in a Wednesday afternoon shooting being investigated as a "murder-suicide."

Officers were called about 1:30 p.m. to a report of an armed person at 2925 Mimosa Ave., where officers found a 51-year-old woman lying on a walkway outside an apartment, according to a Memphis Police Department statement.

Inside, they found a 24-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man dead of gunshot wounds, authorities said. A 6-month-old, found near the man, was taken to LeBonheur Children's Hospital as a precaution, police said. Two other children, ages 3 and 4, were in the apartment but unharmed. All three children have been released to a family member, police said.

The woman lying outside was taken to The Med, where she remains in critical condition, police said.

"At this point in the investigation, it appears this is a murder-suicide," police said. The identities of all the parties, including the suspected shooter, were not released.
