Craigslist iPhone seller robbed, beaten shot at in Little Rock

A Benton man who was attempting to sell an iPhone 5 he had advertised on the online classifieds site Craigslist ended up being beaten and shot at after the would-be seller grabbed it and ran, authorities said.

The 33-year-old victim told investigators he met the purported buyer shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday in the 5800 block of West 10th Street in Little Rock.

The victim reported the man grabbed the phone, ran east to a waiting Ford Explorer and jumped in, according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

"[The victim] advised that as he tried to block the door from being closed, both of his hands were caught in the door," the report said. "[The victim] advised an unknown driver erratically drove approximately two blocks."

When the car stopped, one man opened the door, causing the victim to fall to the ground, and then he "began hitting him on the head," according to the report.

The man got back in the Explorer and someone fired one shot toward the victim as the assailants drove off, the report said.

The victim wasn't hit by the shot, and his injuries from the beating and door were described as minor.

No arrests have been made.
