Police in Little Rock responded to a pair of armed carjackings that occurred less than an 90 minutes apart Thursday in the same block.

A police spokesman said she didn't immediately have information on whether the crimes were related or if either was tied to a similar crime in the same block the night before.

In the first carjacking, a 51-year-old Little Rock man was approached just before 2 p.m. in the 4400 block of West 12th Street by a man who displayed a gun and demanded the victim's Ford F-150.

The carjacker — described as a black man between 19 and 25 who stood 5-foot-7 and weighed about 150 pounds — got in and left in the pickup, according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

The F-150 was recovered about an hour later at a vacant house in the 800 block of Adams Street, police said. No arrest has been made.

A separate Little Rock police report indicates authorities were called to the same block shortly after 3:15 p.m. Thursday after a 55-year-old man had his Ford Explorer taken at gunpoint.

That victim told investigators he agreed to give a man a ride but the man later pulled a gun on him inside the vehicle and demanded the victim and a passenger get out.

The robber got into the driver seat and fled from the area, the report said.

The victim's cellphone was left in the vehicle and police used its GPS to track it to Asher Avenue and Maple Street, where 33-year-old Theolis Jones was found with it about 6:15 p.m. He was arrested on a charge of theft by receiving.

Jones remained in the Pulaski County jail Friday morning.

The two carjackings Thursday come after another, similar crime in the same block the night before. According to that report, a 61-year-old man had his Dodge Neon taken just before midnight by a gunman at 4407 W. 12th St.
