One man was killed and another woman was injured in a car wreck Saturday morning in Ashley County, according to a preliminary Arkansas State Police fatal crash report.
The accident occurred about 7:40 a.m. at Arkansas 425 in cloudy and wet conditions, the report states.
Police said Harold J. Hollis, 66, of Hamburg, was traveling north in a 2004 Hyundai Elantra on the highway when his vehicle crossed the road's centerline and struck a 2007 Mitsubishi vehicle head on that was traveling in the opposite direction.
The Mitsubishi vehicle was driven by Monticello resident Claire Chapman, 58, who was taken to the Jefferson Regional Medical Center to be treated for unspecified injuries.
Hollis's death marks the 458th fatality in traffic accidents on Arkansas roads this year, according to preliminary reports.
